One Word Review: Shiny
Palace deliver lots of keyboard, enticing melodies, sweet harmonies and bombastic choruses. It's all very slick and polished, but there is enough feeling and energy here to get the album creeping under my skin after the first few listens, and that is where the album has stayed for the past weeks.
Michael Palace has a voice that carries the album, and though he sounds forced on the chorus of the opening title track, he strikes a much more cordial tone on the rest of the songs. His voice fits superbly with the keyboard sound and together, these two elements mesh to create a special warmth.
It's simply great to hear this kind of music still being created today. What a debut!
Favorite songs: Every single song is excellent, but my absolute favorites are She Said It's Over, Part Of Me, Stranger's Eyes, Path To Light and Matter In Hand
