Quick Review

Earth is being invaded by massive alien sea monsters and in an attempt to retaliate mankind has built gigantic robot fighting machines, controlled by two humans through shared mind control. It is a silly setup but Pacific Rim is a surprisingly excellent action Sci-Fi movie, which revels in its world, has a lof of fun and only stumbles near the end.

The special effects are spot on, the action is impressive, the movie has a great sense of humor and a certain charm comes from this. It is clear that the movie was made with a lot of heart.

Right up until the last part of the movie I was entertained, but then the movie shifted in tone slightly and the last part (speech and onwards) did not feel as convincing as everything that had come before. This dip in quality and the fact that there seems to be a plot hole with the introduction of a certain sword are the only two problems I have with an otherwise excellent movie.

A sequel has been announced for 2017. Yay!
