Images And Words was a new beginning for Dream Theater, one that showed their true potential and when held up against the mirror of time, shines back with confidence and a blinding clarity.
The allure of Dream Theater, to me, is, in equal parts, their complex music, their melodic focus, their personal lyrics and their unique atmosphere. Together these elements mesh into something complete, something unlike any other band.
Images and Words is filled with classics of great variety. It is a defining moment in progressive metal.
