One Word Review: Nostalgia
Help was the album that hooked me on The Beatles. I just had it playing in the background over several days, trying to figure out what all the fuss was about, and it was around the 20'th listen something clicked. Suddenly every single song had an unforgetable section to look forward to, and it was as if multiple layers suddenly showed themselves, though from where they had come, I did not know, only, it was clear that they had been there the entire time.
There was no turning back, and I devoured the rest of the Beatles catalogue with much enthusiasm. To this day, this album has a special place in my musical universe. Help! is the peak of their "innocent era" and a turning point.
Though I don't consider Help! their best or deepest or most complex album, it is the one I remember most fondly. Listening to it today feels like a warm embrace of nostalgia.
